MICHELLE SABOLCHICK

Concert Sound Engineer

Michelle Sabolchick began working in live sound in the late 1980s, a time when there were very few women in the field. Her professional touring career as a concert sound engineer started in 1992 when she was hired as sound engineer for the band Spin Doctors.

Since then, Michelle has had an impressive and lengthy career mixing a diverse roster of artists including Gwen Stefani, Janet Jackson, Goo Goo Dolls, Melissa Etheridge, Styx, Elvis Costello Jewel, Ke$ha, Adam Lambert, Indigo Girls, Thievery Corporation, and more.

As one of the foremost women touring FOH Engineers, Michelle's journey epitomizes resilience, innovation, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.  She has been an advocate for women in audio, beginning her career when there were few women in live sound and even fewer on tour.  After successfully navigating  a male dominated industry to rise to the top of her field, Michelle co-founded SoundGirls.org to empower the next generation of women in audio.

In 2015 she was inducted into Full Sail University’s Hall of Fame. She is a graduate of both Full Sail (1989) and The Recording Workshop (1987).

Michelle is an active mentor and coach to those seeking a career in Live Sound and Music Production and is frequently sought out as a panelist and guest speaker for industry conferences and universities.

She has contributed to professional journals and written numerous articles and blogs about industry topics ranging from live sound techniques and career development to life on the road.

In 2019 Michelle created and launched MixingMusicLive.com to continue sharing her knowledge and expertise with aspiring sound engineers, musicians, and producers.
